Stir the Cauldron

herbal thoughts and magickal musings from a green Witch in Georgia

Been a While!

August 25th, 2012

Sorry for the year-long hiatus.

A lot has happened in the past year that has taken me away from blogging regularly.  The store is picking up; in February, I broke even with my initial starting costs!

I have been working on my art now that I have access to Photoshop and Illustrator, and have made a few prints available at Society 6 as well as on my Etsy site.

That’s all I have for now – working on some ideas to write about other than product listings and hoping to return to regular posting in the near future.

Let the candlemaking begin!

October 20th, 2011

Our candle-making supplies arrived today! We'll be using GMO-free soy wax, organic essential oils, and homemade plant-based dyes.  And organic wood wicks! I am so excited about being able to offer candles, you have no idea.  I have yet to see a witch shop offer vegan, GMO-free soy wax, organic scented candles Read More...

In Honor of my Grandparents

October 8th, 2011

So we're coming up on Samhain in about a month, and it has gotten me thinking about those members of my family who've passed through the Veil.  I've even opened an Ancestry.com account to research farther back, because before then I didn't know the names of anyone beyond my grandparents.  I've only been able to find information on the maternal side of my family so far, but it's exciting to see the names and surnames 6 generations back in Ireland Read More...

Bayberry – an oft-forgotten Southern magickal plant

October 5th, 2011

Bayberry (Myrica spp.) is a very interesting genus of plants, and has become sadly a little forgotten in these days of our ability to get any herb from around the world for just a few dollars.  You might be surprised to know that such a potent healing and prosperity-drawing tree could be growing right in your backyard Read More...

VeilWalker Samhain incense

September 21st, 2011

VeilWalker incense is our newest offering.  It's a gorgeous smelling spirit contact blend made special for the upcoming 2011 Samhain.  But it's good for spirit contact year-round.  I blended this one widdershins only, as widdershins is the direction of the dead.  It was also blended during the waning moon and will be charged under the upcoming new moon Read More...

Workin’ Hard!

September 20th, 2011

Hi everybody!  It's been a while, but your incense lady has been busy.  Spent the last several hours mixing and rolling out incense cones and sticks, and prepping the next batch of Kyphi (to which I have added real saffron strands, hah!).  Whew.  Love it, though!  Being surrounded by all the smells and vibrations of the herbs and being able to work with my own hands on such powerful, important magical items is sublime Read More...

New Listing: Darksome Night Incense Cones

September 15th, 2011

At last, some incense cones!  Darksome Night is a blend designed for the waning and dark moon, the Crone aspect of the goddess.  When I smell this incense, I always think of the goddess Morrigan, with whom I work closely.  Darksome Night has a sweet, dark and sultry scent and contains over 10 different herbs and resins Read More...

New Listing: Sage Smudge Sticks

September 14th, 2011

Welcome back, White Sage Mini Smudge Sticks!  I make these little guys by hand and they are bound with white thread.  They are just 3 inches long and 1 inch wide.  They burn wonderfully but won't smoke you out of your house like the big sticks tend to.  You're not trying to kick yourself out of the house, after all Read More...
